Geophysics

Dr Thomas Hearn currently runs the geophysics program.  Dr. James Ni has retired, but he continues to work on many projects with us.  He and Dr. Hearn have been working on data from field projects in Tibet and Northeast China and are interested in the uplift of the Tibetan plateau.  Another field project is due to start up in Thailand in 2022. There the structure of the Indian slab subducting beneath SE Asia will be studied along with its relationship with Tibet. Hearn is also involved with studies of seismic amplitude decay.
