The mission of the Physics program at New Mexico State University is to offer a degree preparing our graduating students for careers in a variety of scientific and technical areas as well as for graduate study in physics and related fields.

The Bachelor of Science in Physics is accredited by Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission's General Criteria with no applicable program criteria. The BS in Engineering Physics is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the General Criteria and the Program Criteria for Engineering, General Engineering, Engineering Physics, Engineering Science, and Similarly Named Engineering Programs. ABET accreditation ensures that a collegiate program has met standards essential to produce graduates ready to enter the critical fields of STEM education. Graduates from an ABET-accredited program have a solid educational foundation and are capable of leading the way in innovation, emerging technologies, and in anticipating the welfare and safety needs of the public.
