"What would you do with a 800MeV proton accelerator in your backyard in the middle of NM?"
Do you know what’s going on at the National Laboratories? Do you know what working in a National Laboratory is or feels like? Do you consider a career in a National Lab? Do you know what we do with an 800MeV proton accelerator in NM? Basic science, medical isotopes, stockpile science… what would you like to do with it? Join us on Thursday for this talk and Q&A and you will hear first person what it is like to work at a National Laboratory and will have a chance to ask questions.
Dr. Llobet is a physicist and has worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory for a little bit more than 20 years. In this talk she will give a brief presentation about the types of research and capabilities available at Los Alamos National Laboratory and will also share some of her research in Materials Science and explosively driven experiments to study materials around large capabilities available at National Laboratories like the 800MeV LANSCE proton accelerator as well as neutron reactors and spallation sources. She will discuss opportunities at National Laboratories that you might be interested in. And, finally, encourage us all to be the change we want to see and will share how WE can help others in our community and inspire them to have higher educational aspirations and improve New Mexico communities through education and opportunities.
