Project: We have been assisting in the research and development of the Barrel Hadronic Calorimeter: a piece of the Electron-Ion Collider that will be built at BNL. My part of the project was running tests on the neural network and creating scripts to collect and organize the data. I ended up creating a graphical user interface that helped input the data and output it to a file.
How I got involved: I was looking for research experience and found out that Dr. Ruth was planning to do research here at NMSU. I went to his office after class to discuss how I was interested in nuclear research and he was more than happy to find me a place on his team.
