Abstract:
Quantum Simulations for Electronic Device DesignMiniaturization of integrated circuit components below 100 nm has enabled revolutionary increases in computing power over the past 20 years. As the critical dimensions of building blocks in digital circuits drop below 20 nm, new challenges in device design require physical models that account for quantum effects. Design tools based on non-equilibrium Green's functions in tandem with continuum models for the electronic structure of semiconductors allow fast and accurate prediction of relevant electrical properties, and allow physical insight into the fundamentals behind device operation. This presentation will illustrate the advantages of these formalisms with real-time demonstrations of technologically relevant devices using EOLAS Designs' simulation tools.
